Yes, I know. I haven't updated in a while. You're probably here looking for info about the baby, aren't you? Well, his page is here . If not, then....

Welcome to my world.  I don't know that I have much to say at the moment, but some people seem to find me interesting.  Mary Linton Peters calls me "Always gracious, always thoughtful, often 15 degrees left of the rest of us "  which is a great comfort to me.  Considering what a trial I have been to her and her husband Stephen, it's very reassuring to know they haven't given up on me yet.  Terry and Jeannette Alkasab let me play with their son Emmett, who is a complete joy to me.  They also have a very entertaining new daughter, Josie. (their site may or may not work, depending on the status of Terry's research...)  My husband Brian brings me love and support and laughter, and thinks I am even more high maintenance than I actually am (but who am I to argue?)

We've moved again!  Now we're in Hull, MA, very near the seashore - check out the new  apartment.

Brian and I got married 11/01/01 at Walt Disney World.  To find out all about it, go to my wedding section.

My brother Nic has grown into one of the best men I have ever known, while still retaining his pesky baby brother qualities.  His sense of self and center is impressive for anyone, let alone a twenty-something rock musician.  (Okay, my family has pointed out now that he's technically over 30, but in my mind he's still, oh, 25? So there.)  He got married to an awesome chick named Sarah Veirs.  My parents seem to actually be able to look after themselves, which is quite a relief.  My mother married Bill Myers and is enjoying a well-deserved retirement, which seems to involve sleeping in until the shockingly late hour of eight a.m.  My father has also retired, but seems naturally to be busier than he ever was before.  However, he also appears to be happier than he ever was, which seems a good tradeoff to me.

I have learned, after an amazingly long struggle, that I have wondrous friends in this world, and that I do not disappear from their lives when I am not immediately present.  Some of you out there may understand what a treasure that is.  All of the abovementioned people are among those friends - those who have been there through the longest and hardest stretches.  One who proves again and again that no matter what I do not disappear is my college roommate, Liisa Hiatt.  She is exactly what I was searching for in the "college experience", and I love her dearly no matter how  long it is since I've talked with her.  Jeff Foley is another who comes in and out of my life but retains a wondrous clear vision of who I am, as well as an introspective nature that often brings me up short.

I am a California girl born and bred, though I came into my own in Boston and will likely settle there.  There's something about the place where you first lived on your own that makes a mark on your soul.  I have recently undergone a cultural experiment called the Midwest, while I resided in Michigan with Brian.  Though there is a great deal to be said for (and about) the heartland of America, I didn't quite belong there.  No fault of Michigan's or mine, and I am decidedly glad to have had the chance to be welcomed into that part of our world (though Brian will not believe me when I say that.)

I sew, and I read, and I take baths, and I play with children.  These things make me happy, though not wealthy.  I've been poor, and though I certainly would like to be rich I'd rather be joyful.  Maybe someday I will manage both.

I have a great many links and pictures and interests which are slowly creeping onto this page.  My costumes, my friends, my family, my work, the things that make me laugh and cry and think.  But I also have to live in order to have a life to think about, so don't pester me if it takes time.  Follow-through has never been my strong suit.

sincerely,

Kimmerie
